Changing Judgment
CHANGING JUDGMENT
Time was, I had clear lenses to see.
Now my lenses are inceasingly scratched
And such clear vision is not always possible.
Now, I see double or triple images
Distorted by time and by the light.
My vision is increasingly hypermetropic
And I no longer enjoy the luxury of intense focus on details,
And often my own mood distorts the view.
Even the weather can fog up the lenses,
Or wear and tear can smear the glass
And distort its clarity.

NOTE Younger people often form quick opinions about situations and do not hesitate to praise or condemn. When they become older, and have experienced the many variations in life’s circumstance, they are not so quick to pronounce a conclusion.
