Change Me, Lord

As I sit thinking on You, Lord
             My hearts breaks
When I realize how many times
                                     I fail You.

I call upon You when in need.
Crying out to You when hurt.
But when do I ever sing to You
                                     Just because I love You?

How can such a selfish being
           Be so loved by You?

I am ashamed of what I do
          And of how I am.
I long to do what makes
                                  You proud.

I want to be a child ... You
         Can be proud of.
                    Instead I am nothing more
                                  Than a selfish wretch.

Forgive me Lord!
         Change me Lord! Change me!
