'change'

Heard a lot about 'Change' when I was young Seems the word was on most everyone's tongue Computers stormed the office, the factory too There wasn't anything that they couldn't do From tracking inventory to processing checks Though using the things left many perplexed So many failures and glitches, and 'the System's down'-- The dreaded message that turned smiles into frowns Yearly upgrades, of course, both hardware and software When the salesman came calling, it was 'buyer beware' ... We all made big adjustments, and war's surely hell But too much change takes its toll ~ our world of work is not well

Quite right! I have a DVD and a VCR gathering dust because I no longer remember how to use them. My TV is bombarded with new advertising channels, but I no longer remember how to delete them. Good thing they continue to print characters on keyboards! Aloha!

Change is something else; we can choose to thrive or run from it. Nice end rhymes my friend.

A life sees so much change, especially if it's a very long one. Innovations open whole new worlds, but things can sometimes get so complicated that we yearn for simpler times. A great poem, Gershon!

Change is a veritable truth and the only truth. But to what extent, we can accept it is a big question.... ! These days we are swept over by the ever rising billows of change.... ! A very intelligent and beautiful write, Gershon!

We only think we've seen change. In a few more years AI will revolutionize every aspect of our lives and I fear in the end will be the end. China already has a robot army on it's border with India. Ai can detect cancer cells before they are cancer cells. It is said that over 50% of all jobs will be lost to robots. Computers are already making art and music and probably poetry as well. Nice to read you today Gershon. Hoping you and yours are well.

We have lost so many precious, priceless treasures of digital photographs to this digital age. Give me my paper photographs and shelves full of photograph books. There are thousands of photographs lost in my family due to computer glitches and crashes...as well as in lost cell phones :'( This is not progress. Then they want us to drive computer controlled cars? Imagine that!

Yep, you can say that again. Take the cell phones...they either "make-em-to-break em" or upgrade them every year! Bring back the damn dial phones. Good one, Gershon!

You can say that again, gw. I remember when we were supposed to do away with paper and have a four-day work week. Now, we're just trying to get someone who make the damn printer work!

Oh! I'll never forgot those promises of four-day weeks AND 'paperless offices.' ... 'You won't need that file cabinet anymore!' Remember that one?! ... And, yes, those confounded printers always break down when you need them most! :) gw

As soon as I try to understand one change, a new one crops up. Too much change is confusing. (old age doesn't help much either.)
