Chameleon

I’ve been a chameleon my whole life— Blending, shifting, changing with the tide. I have worn a thousand faces, each not quite my own, Shifting like shadows, wherever I was thrown. But in the silence, a whisper would start— A voice from deep within my heart. What remains when there’s no one left to please? Just me in the mirror—no disguise, no one else to see. Who am I when the world fades away, And only my soul is left on display? Do I truly love to dance? Have I ever taken a chance? Do I crave the written page, Or alpine trails where wild winds rage? Life hums and pulses all around— Everything alive emits its sound. Some call it energy, or fate’s attraction— Two souls in sync, drawn by their vibration. We all emit a frequency, uniquely our own, Whether in love, in joy, or aching and alone. But the strongest signal ever released Is the resonance of being your true self—at peace. How ironic, right? With every color in sight, The chameleon still hides in fear of respite. But maybe joy waits just beyond corner— If it dares to reveal its truest color. To stop mimicking those who pass it by, To stand in stillness, reach for sky, And wear its hues with fearless pride— Even if those colors don’t coincide. The gift once used to fade and mask Becomes a beacon, a guiding path. Because the original me, unashamed and free, Shines brighter than any borrowed identity.
