Chained To a Wall of Stone

Arrogant science Has endangered our children Vain ignoramuses Have made us their victims Was it much too much to ask To leave the children alone Now we feast on bread and water While chained to a wall of stone Where is the recourse What is the outcome The emperor’s fiddling While burning the kingdom Was it much too much to ask To leave the children alone Now we feast on bread and water While chained to a wall of stone Meddling in God’s field Puts us to pasture Whole worlds in our image New potential for failure Was it much too much to ask To leave the children alone Now we feast on bread and water While chained to a wall of stone
