Celebrate Your Wobbly Bits

As I lay upon the floor
Hubby at the bedroom door
Ready and steady
What girl could ask for more
A smile upon his face
A twinkle in his eye
Jogging on the spot
A shy man he is not
Preparing his pace
I give him the nod
I am ready now to go
and waiting for my beau
One
   Two
      Three
Go, go, go…

He pushes
   He shoves
      He thrusts
         He shunts
I wiggle
   I waggle
      I jiggle
         I twist

But still they resist
We collapse on the floor
exhausted and bushed
we shoved and we pushed
In the end we gave in
As I slowly stand up
All that thrusting and yanking
has really worn us out
So beside my open window
with one almighty shout
lifting up my arms
I throw my Spanx* pants out
   I am free
      I can fly...

For despite hubby's efforts
I could not get them on
Watching them fly high
we both burst into song
and now we love my wobbly bits
in Spanx they don't belong

The moral of this story
is to truly celebrate
those lovely
   cuddly
      wobbly bits
are part of you - don't ever hate
So
   flaunt them
      love them
         shake them all about
Dress them in chiffon
and let them all hang out…

I am Ann's friend who gave her the inspiration for this hilarious write. With a broken wrist, I asked my husband to pull on the dreaded spanx, to hold all wobbly bits in before dressing me for a wedding. It was a nightmare. Ann's poem really lifted my spirits and gave me and my husband such a giggle. Bless you Ann xxxx

Oh Elizabeth, I am so pleased my poem lifted you and gave you both a giggle, for laughter is always the best medicine. It seems my little bit of nonsense has made many PS friends laugh too, which is great and I certainly l laughed when writing it. It was after reading about your Spanx that a seed was planted and then my muse just took over, haha. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Absolutely delightful, hysterically funny and loaded with the type of humor that aging demands! I loved every word in every line, I loved the rhyme and flow that didn't wiggle but did go, go and go to amuse me. You gave me the grin I'll now take with me to make dinner - thank you so much for that! Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I am so very happy that my silly poem made you laugh CayCay. I wrote if for a friend who had been having trouble with the said Spanx and she too was hysterical with laughter, which is by far the best medicine. Thank you for your fab comments dear CayCay. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Haha, this is indeed a little bit of nonsense inspired by a friend's comments! I have never used the dreaded Spanx, sounds like torture to me, haha. So glad it made you smile Vijay, laughter is so good for the soul. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
