Caught You Slipping
It seems like you're losing your touch
Others might even see it,
and wouldn't think much
But I know better,
better than most
I saw your hand trembling
holding the knife,
when you were spreading jam on your toast
That's bad, real bad for you
And it sure ain't good for me
I'm the target when the curtain rises,
it's me who risks getting a fatal injury
You're a knife thrower,
you've been the best for a long time
You've been a top carnival attraction
Everywhere we go,
you bring out the long lines
But I caught you slipping,
a slight hesitation yesterday
When you got my life in your hands,
that's not something where I can
just look the other way
If something is wrong with your nerves,
it's gonna make me start losing my nerve
It's me out there staring death in the eye,
why don't you put yourself in my shoes, go give it a try
Let me be the one letting those knives fly,
yeah, how does it feel seeing death whizzing by
I don't think today is a good day for me to die
You're a knife thrower,
you've been the best for a very long time
But seeing that small tremor
has really been laying heavy on my mind
I caught you slipping,
now I'm afraid to perform for the next show
Don't want it to be the last time I close my eyes
when you let the next knife go
