Caught Unawares

The person in question
  not yet man
  no longer boy
  strong, but quite shy
    poised on the precipice
    of destiny

A river had caught him unawares
  he with half a paddle
  head full of hope
  belly knotted in fear
    watching deep waters rush along
    now unsure; then headstrong

To cross it he must
A crisis of trust
Midst the Wind's cruel gusts

Just as sink or swim can make them grim. Happy Weekend, Rico.

Super, Gershon. This is a fine, fine piece of writing. I'm assuming it is a reaction to something that happened in your experience? I love the way it is laid out, too. Good stuff! This poem should definitely be POTD!
