Carved From Stone

I have seen the seeds of faith sprout in a hurting heart filled with doubt. And yet, some only worship God; during times of famine or drought. Following the paths, preachers trod: I found their teachings to be flawed. For preaching Hell and damnation, marks God's eternal love as fraud. In a world filled with temptation Religion offers salvation. Yet doubts pound, like cascading waves, undermining Faith's foundation. Fearing what waits beyond our graves: souls morph into religious slaves. And convinced that we're not alone, believers believe Jesus saves. I've no sins that I must atone, for my God doesn't sit on a throne. And He does not command my praise; for His heart is not carved from stone. No need to fast or pray for days to find God, in life's mortal maze: For like the softest of whispers, His love's revealed in gentler ways.

I respectfully disagree, but that's what faith is about, trusting God on our paths. My heart has been filled by Jesus not man's religion. For me, it's about a relationship with God. My faith did not come from church or my parents. I didn't grow up in a Christian home. It was love straight to my heart not my head. (only way I can explain it). I think Richard is going to get some great and diverse poems for his contest! Hugs, Rhonda

Thanks for your visit Rhonda, faith exists outside of words in the realm of feelings and therefor resists debate, my feelings on the subject are not meant to recruit others but to offer my observations and interpretation of reality. My mind is open to all possibilities, including God, yet not in a religious context. Emile.

Thanks Emile I was when I wrote it - worn down, I'm OK today. I believe as you do no man on a throne, no head in the sky, the creator made all and to make universes from ones 'body' one can not be human. I do believe the creator is sentient, more like a harmonic which induces balance harmony and prayer by calming us brings us into harmony with 'creation' I have faith all is as it should be and all has the capacity to change!
