Carry On
The time we had was short. It carried on and on.
This heart of mine at times grew weak
when I needed to be strong.
Just looking for a friend in places I truly could not find.
In the end having wasted my time.
Now fighting to erase it all from my mind,
only draws it closer to my heart.
It carries on and on like a song, as the rest of me falls apart.
Friends can mislead you from the start.
What you may think is caring can deceive you,
from what is really true.
Too many people carry on playing games,
there is nothing you can do.
Leaving it hard to trust at the end of the day.
Leading your heart and mind astray.
Blinding you senseless till you can't find your way.
Life has its reasons, for which we do not know.
Some friends are rare but temporary.
They are just there long enough for you to grow.
Still, love like friendship does not fade when it's real.
In their absence, you will feel the moments that no longer remain.
In their absence, you feel a sense of pain.
It carries on, like words left unsaid.
Having to say goodbye once again.
Never to say hello.
Knowing the best things in life are also the same things we have to let go.
