Notes About The Poem

Carrousel

CARROUSEL This passes so dizzyingly fast and close, it frightens me The horses blur, their rainbow colour fades to grey Music screams of fun, bells loudly sound Children's delight wins it all Two small blond faces grin so broadly: "One more time, Darren please?" My pocket produces two shiny coins of promise, of one more round. Four feet jumping in joint fun. My head spins faster than that... thing... The noise is overwhelming, I withdraw In me. But it is worth every dime and time. We go again, my heart clutches a treasure, bigger than two coins: family life. *** December 18, 2016

Regardless of anything else, the happiness of children will always be the most important thing. You have captured this sensation wonderfully Darren. Making them happy when perhaps you aren't, but you are...it is obvious in these lines. Family comes first.

Exactly Chris, exactly that. You pinpointed it. They are most important, belonging there is, more important that anything else, thanks.

Lol...This is great...I was just going through pictures on my phone...I have pictures of my youngest daughter on the carousel riding an ostrich from last month at the zoo...She had that huge smile you describe

Yeah, the happy litle faces. That is most important, isn't it?

I love how you journal your life in your poetry. Getting to know you, one knows the sincerity in so many of your poems comes from a day thus emotionally spent. Simple things, simple love, mean so very much and you are a wonderful appreciator and sharer! Poetry hugs ... CayCay
