CARROT CAKE

Crazy to think that insipid vegetable 
Aspires to be something more than rabbit food,
Rising to meet the challenge like an Olympian 
Running the triathlon,
Overcoming tremendous odds to become
The tasty goodness of Nirvana. 

Cupboards full of sugar and spice,
All things nice, as Grandmother chooses ingredients 
Knowingly, as if choosing gems from a treasure box, then
Encoding tastebuds with the flavor of love.
