C Forms - Carpe Diem' Poetry contest

Sponsored by Constance La France 06/12/24

Scar tissue, birthmarks, happy times, and grief Corrugate man’s brain, a coral motif Emotions, synapses, signals unknown Grotesque in nature, splits open when stoned Still pictures emerge, filling us with dread Trompe loeil jumps out, turning confused heads A lasting impression, one little glimpse Stare any longer, de-evolve back to chimps Forthright altruism’s meaningful and straight Love of people dilutes, when mixing faiths Right angles on a cross, drew germane taste Master race had its day, now laid to waste New clear experience, turns sand to glass Quartz for the reaper, forms in mushroom gas Colliding atoms, there’s no other way His sky vaporised, man sure seized the day drip drip drip drip-feed of life ~ wait a gush all we needed was a knife

I love the whole intended carpe diem analogy of our ancestors swinging from trees. There is courage in that. Do other species have courge? Have a need ti fught & defend, yes, but an intent to War? Hmmm…you’re making me think again! Whew 8-)

It’s always good to have second thoughts, or at least think again Sally, yes man did seize the day of that I have no doubt, once we created weapons, war and arm’s races became inevitable, cheers David

Spellbinding poem David, a delight to read for its quite remarkabe imagery, tight language and depth...abundant meat to chew on and enjoy. Timely comment on the flawed nature of the species, the consequences of actions now global in scale including annihilation. Opening stanza just brilliant. Paul

Thank you Paul, I probably could have added another 4 stanzas, but the end result was never going to change, I think those cataclysmic consequences are here to stay, unless AI somehow saves the day, cheers David

You can find these things daily in the poetry. ha. In the bigger picture, man loves to war with another. Genuine & intensely sane. Cheers to better days!

Unfortunately you can find these things in everyday life let alone poetry Anaya, it’s really impossible to say with any certainty where it will all end, perhaps us reverting back to atoms, cheers David

Loved your carpe diem. Not a subject I know much about. Probably I'll miss this contest. Meantime good luck with your contest.

Oh I’m sure we’ve all seized the day at some points in our lives Victor, not always for the right reasons, although it’s easy to get swept away in the Zeitgeist of the moment, cheers David

Thank you Paula, perhaps I’m being a little harsh on mankind in this one, but the truth is if we never seized the day, we’d still be swinging from the trees, I must check out your one, cheers David
