Carolyn

The sadness I feel is a vacuous thing clouds colored dark form the skies Silence rings loud as the echoes now bring tear drops that fall from the eyes Merely a name and a poetic phrase a photograph placed on a screen I wasn’t prepared for the messaged displays sorrow befell what was seen Though something inside brings such joy to my mind moments I’ll never forget To know someone genuine, caring and kind a treasure this person I met Sorrow and sadness they linger a while missing a wonderful view Yet thinking of her brings an eternal smile as many I know they will do Life is so short even when days are long both though will come to an end Remember the good and you’ll never be wrong dream as the memories send Goodbyes are hard in the shadows of time nothing much more can be true So here is mine in this missing you rhyme I will be thinking of you
I knew Carolyn Devonshire only through this site and what I will remember most was how kind she was to me. It is hard to express what I felt when I received the message from Poertysoup the other day, there was an emptiness that hit me quite hard but I forced my mind to think of her only as I knew her, a wonderful poet and a genuine caring person. Rest in Peace Carolyn.

A heart led tribute I see here Chris, truth and Appreciation in each descriptive line She would be; or maybe is touched by this,' Thank you from me also.'

this is hard hitting because the news was such a shock to you. She suffered so much in the last few months of her life. It was a very sad thing and she was as good natured as she could be until the end. (I think mid-July was my last to hear from her, but I think a few others were able to communicate with her even past July). Your poem is absolutely precious.

A beautiful tribute to Carolyn. She was a wonderful lady and writer. I did not put Carolyn in the one I wrote for her. I just called it "Good Bye My Friend." She was my friend. Have a great/blessed day as you write away....................

Chris - your tribute is very moving and powerful. I think many of us think of Carolyn’s kindness first when we think of her many attributes and you have expressed that so beautifully in your poem…

You've expressed well how much effect we may have on one another without ever having met in person. The loss is real, nonetheless. This is a beautiful tribute, Chris, and I'm grateful for your finding these words.

What a lovely tribute to a dear friend to many on soup. I'd known for some time she was terminally ill but those in the loop were sworn not to tell but her death still came as a shock. I will miss her friendship, her wicked sense of humour and treasure the pieces of jewellery she gifted me at Christmas and birthdays. her memory will live on in her poems on soup. hugs jan xx
