Careless Words

 
I was careless and lost your love
or does it only seem that way
words can be weapons
can you forgive me darling
for I will never find another like you
I see us dancing under the stars
as the music wraps around us
the promise between us delicate as a flower
I am full of regret and sadness
tears rock the ocean of my sleep
have you really let our love go
or does it only feel that way
the days are lonely and lost 
melancholy
daggers of pain pierce my heart
I am lost in a sea of nameless faces
just waiting for your voice
weeping my regret
I hang my head like a dying flower
can still see the pain in your eyes
I just want to hide myself away
the phone is ringing, ringing
or does it only seem that way
hello
hello
can you forgive me I blurt out
your whisper . . .  yes
and my heart is a sea of tears
tears falling
mine and yours
and again the sun is shining bright
and clouds sail across the sky
or does it only seem that way . . .
