Notes About The Poem

moms.. they can be lovely - or drive ya crazy - in 10 minute increments

Capricious Creatures

Senryus about those
capricious creatures that rule
over our lives - our moms.

Studying. My phone
beeps, I look at it - mom says,
- "you've been texting!" Argh!

Mom: "Why is it - that
everything is on the floor?"
Me: *thinking*... "gravity?"

"SORRY!, how could I
know answering your question
would be talking back??"

My mom can hear me
mumble a mile away but
can't hear me yell "what"?

Mothers have ears that can hear as efficiently as an old bat, but don't call her that. I did smile at your 'gravity,' reply.

I can't help but laugh, Anais, it's funny the way people are whether it be your mom or my wife. When my wife gets mad at me, she goes in the other room and talks to herself...about me...but she says it just loud enough that she knows I can hear. I think that's called "passive-aggressive."

It's astute of you to realize that she really is talking to YOU, John. lol
