Cape Hatteras Light

White as day and dark as night,
Sitting as a candle bright.
Standing lonely on a shore,
Guiding ships that sail once more.

Ocean churning, birds in flight,
Staircase spirals out of sight.
Sands of gold lie at your feet,
Longing for the sea to meet.

Silent guiding straight and true,
Years on end you’ve weathered through.
Always faithful as a friend,
Always treasured till the end.

I personally want to say congratulations to you for your work placing in my contest. It is good to see your name on the winners' list. I like the descriptiveness, rhythm, rhyme and flow of this one. Way to go. Sara K.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
