Canyons Cold and Dark

She dwells in deep canyons cold and dark To ponder a mystery that haunts her soul Which leaves confusion and doubts in heart The loss of confidence now takes its toll To ponder a mystery that haunts her soul Which renders sleepless hours through the night The loss of confidence now takes its toll A flower slowly dying withers in sunlight It renders sleepless hours through the night The days are lengthened, and she wastes away A flower slowly dying withers in sunlight Her sweet fragrance lost, forever and a day The days are lengthened, and she wastes away What could be this wrong which she has caused? Her sweet fragrance lost, forever and a day To fully grasp this puzzle she requires pause What could be this wrong which she has caused? What pain has she laid upon your heart? To fully grasp this puzzle she requires pause She dwells in deep canyons cold and dark ~*~ By: Audrey Carey-Haick Note: For Paula Swanson's "Pantoum" Contest

profoundly, it has taken my interest to ponder on seeing sweet lady living in canyon, maybe keeping distance from someone. Congratulations, Audrey for your well deserved win. (^_^) Noel.

Although many people can relate to this poem, it seemed like the story of my life, Dimples. We always ask ourselves what we did wrong when we ar in "canyons cold and dark." Thank you for sharing these moving words written in perfect pantoum form. Wishing you success in the contest and a fabulous Thanksgiving with your daughter! Love, Carolyn

This is a class of touch indeed,It seems this flower has been left alone, she wants to know the reason, but would she ever know?maybe she isn't to blame for standing alone. .maybe her fragrance is still there. .and one must hold this flower with gentle loving care, touching and heartfelt.

sounds like someone gone far astray and feeling horrible in her soul. YOu portrayed that excellently here. Pantoums are ideal for portraying a quality of emotion, don't you think? good luck in the contest, dear friend. I really appreciate your support with the contest thing. STill waiting on that. . . Luv, Andrea
