Candle Starlet
playful and flirtatious flame
twinkling and glimmering
candle dancing flickering
casting a myriad of midnight shadows
scintillating and wavering
mesmerizing and hypnotizing
fluttering and quivering
in the dead stillness of dark night hours
suddenly yikes! it dawns on me
that your flame may really be a captive
struggling with despair to free itself
to join its brethren stars up in the sky
