Cancer's Serenade

Cancer has become a constant companion of many, without a cure, it lingers on and causes tragedy, It waltzes into the lives of the young and old, taking up residence boldly, Its victims fight the good fight as Heavy Weight Champions do, Yet, sometimes, nothing gets its victims through, Even when they follow all the instructiuons given to them, Cancer serenades with its death march, Leaving their souls lifeless and parched, Victims go into the next world as shadows, mere likenesses of themselves, not knowing whether they ended up in Heaven or Hell.

I think victims of cancer have suffered enoug in this life. Two dear friends died from this disease and I expect them to be the first to welcome us to heaven. Indeed, they fought "the good fight." Don't know if I'd have such courage. Beautifully written, Margaret. Love, Carolyn
