Cancelling Christmas

I can picture a reindeer all harnessed and hitched
I can understand the concept of jolly old St. Nick,
I can listen to Christmas carols playing all day long
But reports of cancelling Christmas make me sick!
Yearly some grinches delight in debunking Christmas
With upsetting stories appearing in the news on TV
But what they plan to accomplish by this deception
Muddies my reception and remains a mystery to me.

Why worry? The winter solstice has been celebrated since time immemorial, only the name changes!

But celebrated differently, e.g., how does Santa arrive, when are presents opened, etc.

I hear ya, Rico, but, in the Western World, Christmas IS Christmas, and most people don't associate it with the winter solstice. Thanks so much for your comment, however.

I would like to see them try! We keep calling it Christmas Break even though we have been told for about 25 years to call in Christmas break at school. No can do!

I've heard of many cases of christmas activities being toned down because they think it upsets other faiths, what a load of tosh, I used to work with people of other faiths and not one said they were upset by Christians celebrating Christmas and couldnt understand why people would think that. I think it's just a load of Grinch's 's trying to spoil the fun. Tom
