Canadian Geese

I love the sound of the honking geese,
Though I think they get turned around
Because for several days in a row
I hear their honking sound.

So if they were really headed south
I would hear them only one time
And not over and over as fall settles in.
Perhaps their lead goose is blind.

Perhaps they are honking at the wind,
Telling it not to push so hard.
Maybe that's why it takes them days to leave,
The wind turns them, catches them off guard.

The honking of geese is a wonderful sound
And it's telling me winter is near.
I love to watch them fly in formation
As they wing their way out of here.

Francine.. this took me back to my home state of michigan , where I use to watch the Canadian geese , with thier majastic wing span , fly over our humble house,, oh yes Francine they were flying south.. and how I would wonder , how they ever made it back thank you for sharing your thoughts , And as I lay down tonight , I pray my thoughts will soar with these Canadian geese , it's now fall again, have you got your quill , look to the sky beyond your window sill,, good poem

I enjoy seeing them fly over on their way..Sometimes they stop in different places and rest..We have several colonies that stay here now and don't migrate...Sara
