Can We See

Oh say Can we see? What is country, What can it be? Are its citizenry Inclusive and free? What gender is innocent In our mist? What higher moral code Can we resist? Which pigmentation Or spiritual quest Should unite the nation For the singular best? What part of human kind Must a country keep in mind? What can a country be That limits liberty, If all these things A country cannot be Then nothing In this country Shall be free.

I completely agree; we can't have freedom, when liberty is defined by (any one/group of individuals) dogma/moral. In fact, in modern day, it's hard to even challenge freedom, because of the idea that someone else's tenet can be considered as "violent," therefore, leading to lack of communication, understanding, compromise, and ultimately, freedom. Thank you, Michael, for your insight. Sure do appreciate you.

I believe that if im not harming another person or persons properties, I should not be restricted as a person for my thoughts, choices, and actions. Nothing in life, including life, is free, but I wonder if there ever was a time? The question, "what part of human kind, must a country keep mind," is a great one. I'm curious of how you would answer that!

My question what part of human kind, must a country keep in mind, was my way of asking are we free if we only focus on the parts that we like. To be a community, county you have to be willing to put yourself in someone else's mess. Perhaps as you suggest, freedom doesn't exist, but if we only focus on liberty as it relates to dogma or morality then we are not free. Freedom is an evolving concept that needs to be challenged to live.
