Can I Write You

Can I write you
Can I slip into your eyes
In search of words to describe

May I move as a soft caress
Upon your skin
So as to fill my pages

Can I bathe within
The trance of your beauty
Gathering words of poetry

May I capture your glow
Your warmth, your smile…
Your memory

For life has been upon me such
That I know
I cannot long hold you

For an angel never could be held

But if you will
Might I hold you dear, forever
Upon the weathered linen pages
Of my mind
