Can I See
CAN I SEE?
Can I see the joyful rainbow from here?
A leaden veil of thick cloud dims
My earnest vision,
So I cannot rise in confidence
From my earth-bound state of grief,
Garnered from days of lean harvests
By a scorching desert. Alone, I suffer
From detached isolation, without
The restful comfort of a gentle companion.
The sun's harsh blaze empties me
Of all resolve to fight for freedom,
I, becoming its unwilling prisoner
In a world where survival counts for nothing.
I cast my gaze over the endless expanse,
Seeing a display of dry bones
To confirm the despair within,
I will not live without knowing
The purpose that can change
My circumstances.
Perhaps a rainstorm of tears
Has come to wash away the pain
That lies around in every part of me.
Perhaps there may be
The kaleidoscopic rainbow for
Bringing a sign of hope to me.
I dare to wait for better times.
