Calling Me Home
“It's paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to
everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn't appeal to anyone.”
-- Andy Rooney
The leaves are now falling like tears
from the hearts of the trees lofty dome,
and the birds heading south out of fears
as the wintertime’s barrenness nears.
No longer will eagerness roam
for my spirit is losing its cheers,
and so weary from passing of years,
as the heavens are calling me home.
