Call Of The Wild
See the way the sunlight splashes across my face
Serenaded by swaying leaves in a beautiful place
I yearn for the mornings when dew makes leaves glisten
And as nature sings and dances I simply listen
A lush forest forms a canopy overhead
Where birds perch and make their bed
In roaring rivers fish make their home
Twisting and twining to the heart of the biome
Here I forget the city's hustle
As I watch forest squirrels bustle
Deep within the forest comes the call of the wild
Filling me with gleeful joy like that of a child
...From my gilded concrete cage
It seems so real it fills me with rage
Knowing that what I yearn for is surreal
Because it was truly never real
This sprawling urban jungle is not where I should be
So cramped and crowded it's impossible to be free
Perhaps that's why my heart is sick and I lost all hope
Chasing booze and bottles just to cope
When I close my eyes I can still see that pretty lie
But as soon as I open them I have to ask why
My soul yearns for a life that was never mine
I begin to wonder if I just want to whine
But tonight when I close my eyes
Whether ugly truths or pretty lies
Whether it's right or wrong
My heart knows where I belong
And again the sunlight splashes across my face
Serenaded by swaying leaves in a beautiful place
As tears begin to fall I cry like a child
Just wanting it to be true that call of the wild
