Call of the Mountain
I am neither thin
nor fat
I am not rich
or poor
I am not tall
or short
I am not ugly
or gorgeous
I am not brilliant
or dumb
I don’t dress trendy
nor do I dress in rags.
In the midst of a
city crowd
I am average
unknown.
In my hometown
on the mountains
I am known by
two thousands
as I know
each by name
and hold in the
nest of my heart
as a mother
her only
infant.
