Calamares, Chocos

The Spanish with whom I sup asked me, so I did: “eat sea beasties – look it up!” Chocos, yes, there are, and there’s calamar: los del mar? Squid.

Not my favorite - a texture thing, not flavor - fried is good with libation. ;) Congratulations Michael! :)

It's so funny. I was in Valencia years ago and saw them fried inside a sandwich. I did not know that particular word in Spanish so I just ordered because it looked good. It was not bad. Maybe a bit rubbery. Kinda like chicken. I was so surprised later to learn what I had eaten. I would never eat it unless it was fried!! Congrats with this interesting entry

Hi Andrea! The first thing to say is a big 'thank you' for your kind words. Second, yes - I live in Spain, and British friends are always amazed that so many squid are consumed. I'm pleased that I resonated! Michael
