Cacoethes is a word I never heard.
It must be a kind of affliction,
and now a challenge has me spurred
to render its poetic depiction.
For me, this will be a difficult task,
as my judgment is always sound.
Indeed, this is a demanding "ask",
but I'll find a way to expound.
Personally, I find it's ill-advised
to overshare my thoughts,
for I might be pegged a fool or despised.
I shun touchy subjects and what nots.
Cacoethes involves an impulse
to which I'd never succumb,
such as to do an act that might repulse -
or maybe say something dumb.
I wonder what could trigger this thing.
Could it be a sound like "clunk"
or the toll of a bell that might ring?
Oh, I suppose that's just BUNK.
A charcoal lump -
Trump, a chump.
So upset -
fascist threat?
I find it's wise practice not to speak
of politics, religion, and junk.
From me, you will hear nary a squeak.
Nope, I'll be quiet as a MONK.
Lightning rod!
Believe in God?
Sight unseen -
what's it mean?
Likewise, sex is a subject best avoided,
Especially when you're drunk.
Don't take an example of what Freud did,
You might sound like a SKUNK.
Add some spice.
Do what's nice.
Use a device.
Do it twice.
Now, you know what "cacoethes" means,
a concept, somewhat explicable.
Unfortunately, right now, it seems
you find this poet despicable.
