Butterfly, My Love
You have hair like golden silk.
You laugh like clear water running over stones.
Your eyes, they are the color of the sky,
clear or stormy, matters not, they are the same.
You have wings unseen.
I know…
You are going to go places,
far and wide.
You will make a difference,
by touching the lives of others,
in ways you will never understand.
I watch you.
I pray for you.
The world is harsh, but your tenacity is stronger.
Like the rose, you show your charms,
but hold back with thorns to keep boundaries,
laid in stone, by harsh efforts…
the cost to your heart, immeasurable.
You are a gift to me, and to your father.
You are a gift to our family.
Not ours to keep at all,
but to know the love
of God…
and the sheer magnificence,
of his wonder.
