Butterfly

Who knew I’d be seeing you,
The butterfly of my life.
You used to be my best friend
I used to be your wife.

I’m writing to say Thank You
To a dear and cherished friend.
It sure is nice to see you.
Thanks for dropping in.

Thank you for helping me to raise
That little girl you see.
Who is now a strong black woman
Giving props to you and me.

Thank you for this weekend
Thanks for the tears I didn’t cry
As I’m going through the meantime
Thank you, BUTTERFLY.
