Buried Alive

Buried Alive

These walls....
they laugh at me but no one else hears
They steal the very breath of me
...but no one seems to notice
They blare a suffocating silence
Leave invisible abrasions from unseen restraints

These walls I once called home
These walls have become my coffin

~FJ Thomas

Most of us run through varying emotions at times. It helps to jot them down and get them out ;) These walls can be emotional or very literal. Usually the one causes the other to collapse in along with it.
The important thing is to remember that there are others who very much understand how you feel; you are not alone. So never give up!

So many can empathize with this statement these days, as a claustrophobic, I can feel it, as you speak of it . Well done F.J.

Thanks Line. After my third spinal surgery, when I realized things would never be anything like they used to be, I felt like this for a while.

Hello FJ!! The words that come to my mind after I read "Buried Alive" are: Sad, Deep, Profound, and Frightening. Keep a trap door available to get away ASAP, if necessary. In another sense, I do believe many of us, in one way or another, do confront similar walls in our lives. Keep the trap door handy. A masterful thought-piece for sure!! Cheers and Best, Gary

The title caused my claustrophobia to pause my click to read, I mean, it couldn't help it, but logic won out and so did my joy for your words lacking joy to rush-reward me and my love of feeling as you realistically, authentically and poetically penned. This poem gifted me with a piece of me I well knew, remember, survived, and to some extent, grew from. Thanks for delivering a feeling I've never put so succinctly. Love it when that happens. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

A powerfully emotional poem, FJ, filled with poignant moments that sets up, with perfect effect, the strong impact of the contrasting feelings of your two closing lines. Your deep despair so beautifully expressed.. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thinking too much about the past or future only does this. I live in each day, within every ticking minute waiting for goodness or trials. I went somewhere else in my mind.

My dear Flo.....As always, your pen possess a magical quality and I have no doubt of it's capabilities. Maybe it's time for some writing, after you construct the wall! In big bold letters, write this message to fear, doubt and insecurity........Stay On Your Side Of The Wall!!
