You promised me a burger and a cup of tea But you broke you solemn promise to me No burger van as far as the eye can see My aching tum was in dire need you see Oh woe, oh woe, oh woe is me You promised me a burger for my tea Succulent meat, caramelised onions and fries Why oh why did I fall for those lies My mouth was watering at the very idea … No burger van, I cried many a bitter tear It’s grounds for divorce for you promised me A succulent burger and a cup of tea 1st June 2015 Background info – last week we went to a 2 day blues festival - my hubby had the most wonderful burger from a van. We were going back the next day – I said I would make a picnic so we could sit in the sun outside and listen to the music on the stage in the gardens – he said don't bother with the picnic we will have a burger and a cup of tea…. The van didn’t show up

G'day Jan... possibly the worst thing of all is the anticipation with your mind putting all the flavours on your taste buds, and then 'whoppo.' Sue 'em Jan - Lindsay

You are funny. No worries on anything you write. It cannot be bad or bothersome to me no matter what! The disappearing van can be very disappointing. What is it about hamburgers?

Jan so pleased I could raise a smile wih a piece of fruit. Just read your three latest poems and good to see variety and traditional poetry forms in use. I do like the limerick so much can be said in five lines and one memorable line can recall the point. Keep it flowing even when divorced and hungry. Hugs Mike

He did redeem himself - brought me a kebab that evening - by the time we left the venue I was climbing the walls with hunger lol. So no divorce - after reading my Bite Me poem and change of style I am surprised anyone comments on me again lol:-) hugs jan xx

Just one of those unfortunate events in fact its one of hubby's colleagues parents who run the van - they didn't bother going on the Sunday as trade had been poor on the Saturday ... but Sunday was MUCH busier as the sun was shining:-( Hugs jan xx
