Bullies

What kind of sadistic delirium dwells in an obtuse parent whose child emulates their behavior in showing it is okay to bully other children whose only egregious fault is shyness? Bullied and tormented and teased to tears, emotional scars that will last for years in self flagellating inferiority and a sense of worthlessness a delicate child withholds. Indigent children may be bullied to the point of contemplating suicide. Or worse yet become a bully themselves. To consecrate such actions of their child, who so berates another, makes the parent even more responsible than their child. Principals who mediate are in a quandary of showing impartiality yet fairness, awakening every sense to protect the bullied child. Insightful teachers are becoming more aware as they try to teach these bullies to have respect. I've seen that child who cries, but fears to tell. 8-29-19 Eight word challenge 9 Poetry Contest 1. So clever, so so clever, though bullies are no good and should be dealt with and discouraged. An absolute cracker!

Dysfunction raises dysfunction. You said this so well and delivered it with a righteous tone of indignation that such deserves. I'm so glad you wrote this truth in ways that should be clear to all readers wherever we post it: where would be the most beneficial wall? Splendid purposeful writing. Love ... CayCay

Excellent, Connie. Your poem flowed so naturally that I'd not have known you had words to incorporate in it until I came to the very end. The topic you chose is a delicate one which unfortunately has become too common. ~ Regards // paul

We should stop mending and start curing...it's coming from the roots...re soil and fertilize...I love these conscious writes...

Parents must present a kind, gentle but firm example to their children, advise them and give them lots of love - the rest will fall into place. Children who are bullies and whom the rest of the class fear, will grow up, probably, to become a criminal - background says it all. Well penned my friend. Hugs, Jennifer.

This is so true, so many younger people have this and don't know that they don't have to let it ruin their lives. We should be teaching them when younger that they don't have to. We should be encouraging better behavior in kids but do we? Does society really encourage the better? One has to really examine the impressions we make on vulnerable minds.

Hello Connie … this behaviour if not nipped in the bud will continue into adult hood. It is not cool to bully. It's a sign of insecurity without any feeling towards the target. This is a great insight to what can be very dangerous if allowed to continue Connie - extremely strong message - thank you Connie - Lindsay

powerful piece that holds so much sad truth...i do not allow bullying of any sort on my bus, i tell them they are on here less than an hour and need to get along, this world is much sadder now with the attacks on social media, we have had some local teens commit suicide from bullying, it's happening all around us... excellent write :) hugs

So true. I was thinking of the recent suicides from bullying but didn't add it for the sake of brevity. Thank you Sandra. xxoo

Hi Connie, What a revelant piece of poetry. Bullying should not be tolerated at home or school. Bullying can lead to one taking their own life, this is why the subject shouldn't be taken lightly. In some cases bullies bully because they were a victim of bullying themselves. But when does the cycle break? Good thought provoking write. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Have a great weekend my friend- Alexis

Thank you Alexis. Some teachers have become indifferent to the bullying and that has to stop. Most teachers are very caring though, they have a difficult time and are over worked with too many students in their classrooms. We need to raise their pay so more teachers will seek teaching as a profession. xxoo Two of my children teach.

Now there is a bully in the Whitehouse who is making bullying a cottage industry. Your poem deals with such an important topic. Well expressed Connie. Hugs Rick.

It is so true, they fear telling because of retaliation and making things even worse for themselves. Thank you Vijay. xxoo

It is such a pattern. When we find little bullies, we wonder about their parents. Often times their parents come in yelling, screaming, out-of-control big bullies. I believe bullying is learned behavior. Older siblings are great at teaching their younger siblings bullying ways also. It is a HUGE problem. Thank you for writing this poem. You are correct, the most sensitive often get bullied the most often.

I hate bullies! I've had experience with them as a child, but fortunately not to the extent as some have. A timely message in poetic form. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings, Kim

I am teaching my granddaughters how to handle bullies. With todays social media these bullies who, are actually cowards, can hide behind fictitious names. Thank you Kim. xxoo

Hi Connie, like many, I know the bullies, for me the worst thing was the mental torture. Because of my problems I was slow, at school, I didn't find it easy to learn at all. I have made sure that I have never set out to hurt anybody. You have hit the nail on the head with this write. I hope it does well in the contest. It reads like a winner to me. A fav. This one brought back memories. It always does well to remember what you never want to be. Have a wonderful Friday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Thank you Mike. Social media has made it easy to bully and hide behind a fictitious name. We as parents, need to be aware of what our children are writing on the internet. It is a whole new world in cyberspace. Thank you for your very lovely comment on this poem and most definitely for the Fave! xxoo Aloha, Connie

Children always try to emulate their parents which is why we as parents need to be so responsible and raising them. Thank you very much Elizabeth, for your wonderful response. xxoo

I have seen them as well and I have little patience for bullies and I don't hesitate to let them know when I see it. But, I am not a teacher so I guess I don't have to be politically correct when I do. They usually get my meaning very easily. Nicely done Connie on a tough subject. Best wishes in the contest

My husband was really tall for his age. Much older boys used to bully him and take his lunch money every day until he learned to fight them off himself. He took Kung Fu and that was the end of the bullying. I can also relate to bullying. Thank you Chris. xxoo
