Bubble of Illusion

I kept chasing after name and fame From far it looked a flickering flame Sending out beams of light Illumining my tenebrous night Over the sand dunes and the arid desert I walked looking for its source, alert I was plagued by an insatiable thirst I thought I was unquestionably right More often ruled by greed and pride, To worldly things my thoughts were tied But as trials kept chasing me one after another And problems of life came in queue to smother I found, after all, I was chasing an illusion That was leading me gradually to delusion In course of life, learnt I had to kill my ego All vain longings clutching me, I had to throw Bubbles of illusion burst within me From inglorious thoughts I made myself free When from me was erased, ego’s glaring blots Love came to stay and peace lodged in my thoughts May.11.2022 Placed First Bubble of Illusion Poetry Contest Sponsor –Unseeking Seeker

Once we free ourselves from illusion, we're disillusioned...I think of Gandi. I love the moral to your story... although I quote the Buddha... Hope you win Valsa!

You've captured it well, Valsa. It's a real bubble. I've known a few people who have succumbed to it, and the transformation is remarkable. Kudos, Gershon

Bursting bubbles is enjoyable in its literal sense , but is it so in its figurative sense? However bubbles of illusion need to be burst! Thank you Rico

Enjoyed reading your masterpiece, my friend! Valsa. The imagery that flows throughout your well-crafted poem is really amazing. Your writing is bewitched by the alliteration and the out-of-the-ordinary diction you used. There is serenity and no place for conceit or vanity in the investigation of notions that are beyond the realm of the usual. My friend, you are on a path to awareness.

When my simple poem is called a masterpiece, by a poet of your stature, I should have touched cloud nine. But I know my limitations.... my diction is quite ordinary ! However I am so happy with your uplifting comment and remain in deep gratitude to you, dear poet friend!

Perhaps that is why I am always worried. Too many earthly things on my mind. Burst the bubble.

Never let worldly preoccupations steal all your time. Relax and find peace within. I know it is easily said, but hard to be practiced. Thanks dear friend !

Exploration beyond the ordinary thoughts, Valsa--where there is peace--- and pride and ego have no home. A journey to enlightenment my friend.
