Broken Wings

remnants of a life built with purpose and pride, small synapses of yesterday I recall clouded in a narrowing vision, I slide, lost in abysmal darkness, struggle and fall, once a soaring eagle, now prey in despair, days play out, muddled in confusion and fear, doomed in the silence I bear only in prayer, to savor moments that slip into nowhere. Thank you for stopping by to comment. Yes, this was a new form for me; it was a requirement of a contest that I thought was quite interesting. I had never written in Rispetto before so the challenge was a lot of fun and I was able to express the difficult end to my brothers life. Again, Thanks, Paulette

Dear Paula, such a touching, poignant poem. You have captured the dark despair, anguish and loss so deeply here. It’s so raw, so heartfelt and so many will resonate with your poetic words. The last two lines are particularly profound. I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and blessings to you xx

Dear Paulette, I really loved how you captured the ache of lost dreams and the struggle against encroaching darkness. Each line evokes emotion, echoing the journey from pride to despair, from clarity to confusion. I admire your words of resilience amidst adversity, clinging to hope even in the depths of despair. You poetically show it's the fragility of life and the strength found in vulnerability. Paulette this is a very raw and reflective piece. - Blessings, Daniel

Paulette such a heartfelt piece you have written about your brother. I can not imagine what it was like for him and for you to go through what he went through with your family as well. I hope there was some type of resolve and mending in the end. I always wish for the best and the best outcome. This one as I read was a tough one. Hope you are well blessings to you and your brother...

Michael, thank you for stopping by to comment. I tried to express the frailty of our lives, no matter how strong our character, we are not always in control. The outcome is my brother is resting in eternal peace. Thanks for your compassion. Paulette

Your Rispetto spoke to me. I especially liked "small synapses of yesterday I recall." After reading your poem I felt twinges of sadness as well as some hope or perhaps resolve with a situation. Have a great evening, Sara
