Broken Lights
Broken Lights
The Christmas tree lights are so dark this year;
And the wee baby in my arms won’t smile,
Nor giggle at bright colors of last year,
Shedding her infant glee and happy charm.
I will sing to the child a lullaby
About another dear babe a’sleeping.
While the world awoke to His precious birth
As His face was the light it was seeking.
Lullaby, Lulla-loo, Stars in the sky
Your brilliance leading angels to streaming;
And the moon grins, too, to comfort you,
Your eyes will be so bright at its beaming.
Lullaby, Lulla-loo, Stars in the sky,
Shine for my baby, ‘til new lights come through.
