Broken Hearts

High winds driving palm leaves to the right,
pointing at broken hearts. A mother here…
a child, dear…a long hospital stay…tears.
Can it even rain on such days? Dark clouds,
dreary-gray, loathsome black - the words
are the same - “Seems strange, a dream,
can’t be, my heart is broken beyond repair.”

I pray for the forest through the trees, a glimpse
of eternity for such deep, dense, suffering.
I pray that God comforts my friends and their kin
in the peace that passes all understanding.

Lifted by those, who for a time, are above the fray,
we each sludge through the muck of life,
when curtains are drawn, and doors
are decked with wreaths of despair.

I pray and find hope. I pray, in this moment,
when I am the strong one. I wrap my arms
around my friends though they are far away.
Such tears. Such heartbreak! Jesus…!

So emotive and filled with compassion. Just the other day I learned a friend of mine up the street died suddenly. She was so healthy. I just don't get why she died .

My Aunt died at 75. Sounds old but she likewise seemed to be in great health. She died in her sleep.

Dear Kim, so incredibly moving. What stood out most powerfully was the shift from bearing the weight of despair to finding strength in praying and offering comfort. It speaks volumes about the power of holding space and healing prayer for others' pain. Autumn Blessings, Dear Kim, Daniel

I know, I manage my own suffering fairly well, which thank God is rare, but the suffering of others pains me deeply. Especially woman and children. My heart goes out. Deeply touching write.
