Broken Barbie

When you look at me what do you see
A pretty face or a soul brought to her knees
Can you see past the pretty smiles
To the pain that lies so close to the surface beneath

Which mask do I wear today
They’re all fake anyway
Simple distractions of the true discord
My life and mind is in every way

A walking nightmare in Barbie tones
You’ll never understand me
So just leave me alone
My poison will only spread my misery

Tattooed to cover the scars
Each has a name
Carried in this blackened heart
Lost and all alone, it’s best this way

This journey once scary
Is now old and weary
So bored with the madness
Welcoming chaos for sadness

In this twisted hell that this Barbie knows so well
I skip on through trying to find
The grey in the black just for a new story to tell
One that’s all mine
The souls of the damned my only friends
But even they are known to pretend
I hear the laughter behind my back
Whispers of how I’m just another Barbie hack.
