A touching poem indeed/ It describes the wrong sentiment had/ A beautiful relationship didn't flower/ It is a loss to both of them/ Thank God, daughter shows maturity/ A poem that describes the common mentality/ A nice, but tragic song in my view!

The juxtaposition of tragedy and charm . . . One wouldn't grieve for a passing cloud but your value is unimpeachable. Goat-cheese pizza's the best!

Hi Jan, I guess my computer was in the shop when you wrote this emotional piece. Belated congratulations on such a heart wrenching poem if it is an actual account of your personal relationship with your dad. I hope other male figures took his place for you. God bless, Nancy

Jan so sad this made me feel. Words escape me now but there is heartfelt pain in reading this. I am so sorry your dad was such a shallow individual, I am so glad your mom was there because I am sure she made up for him. With me it is the opposite I love my daughter and have done everything in the world to win her love and it is so heartbreaking sometimes to deal with her rejection. In a way I can really relate to the pain you felt. God loves you he was your other dad and your Mom she was a Saint

Dear Jan, Congratulations on your POTD. You have created a powerful piece of writing - feel sad, but probably there are men who deprive their children of the wonderful love a father could give! Hugs ~ Mala

Congratulations on your POTD win. A wonderful/powerful yet sad write. Many years ago, I had a boss who wanted a son. He painted the room blue, put in blue carpet, got dark wood furniture, and bought ever piece of sport equipment he could find. An all boys room. They had a girl. He would Not go to the hospital and a friend had to bring the wife/baby home. He would not even talk to his wife for months. So Sad. Hugs... Have a blessed day with your wonderful win..................

Family ties don't always bind us in a good way. An excellent piece, Jan...poignantly heartwrenching...but excellent, nonetheless. The last stanza shows a lot of strength and strength of character. Congrats on POTD, as well.

It's so sad to think that one child would be loved more than another. I am the 14th child of 15 children yet each one of us was loved equally. Hugs to you my friend.
