Broken
I did everything right but they took it away.
I did everything right, I worked hard every single day.
I did everything right, I didn’t sleaze, crawl or hoar.
I did everything right for you because it’s you I adore.
I did everything right, I never hurt a living soul.
I did everything right and yet life demanded me go.
I did everything right because I chose not to do wrong.
I did everything right and still sang my own song.
But life narrows the road and it darkens the light.
It drains the marrow from your bones and makes you fight for your life.
As I sit here on the bench and the cold freezes my pain and troubles away, I scrawl words that my body in death found will say.......
I did everything right.
