Broken
As I lay there broken scattered across the floor
You’ve taken all I have to give and then you ask for more
Towering over me, you force my mouth to speak
Hypercritically wanting strength, when you have made me weak
I can’t begin to pinpoint where I just let this be
And I can’t remember the moment when my heart stopped hearing me
I look at everything you took and everything you stole
how you twisted my thoughts so cleverly to let you take control
But now I stand as an outsider, I see it clear as day
It didn’t really matter what I thought, I never had a say.
To dress as you found suitable and behave equally the same
To realise now your identity is cut off after your own name.
But all the damage that you have done can still be turned around
As strength, self worth and dignity have successfully now been found.
No longer do I lay there broken, unable yet to fight
For I have done the strongest thing and let my wings take flight.
