And The Man In The Lake
Written: by Tom Wright
7/20/98
While standing at the waters edge
I peered within to see.
This strange reflection of a man
there staring back at me.
Getting no response to questions
I didn't learn his name.
But found each move I conjured up
he always did the same.
I saw within this newfound friend
a man so blessed with gain.
But this man wouldn't get involved
and this caused me some pain.
Turning to leave with one last glance
having done all I could do.
I found this friend that I'd just made
was turning to leave too.
The Lake Man left me this one thought
not to idly sit and yearn.
That investments in time serving, God,
will always pay a great return.
