Bring Down the Rain
When my mind cannot think and my mouth cannot pray
And my soul is so far gone in the darkest place
When I long for You inside my heart
I am looking for some light where there is not even a spark
No one can know the pain I feel inside
So why do I reach out to the unworthy ones and from You I hide
You know me, You know my soul
I look to every other place when I am afraid and it is You that I cling to and hold
Then I look at myself, I hold the blame
I fool myself, I feel the flame
I take a deep breath and swallow the shame
How amazing You are that You take me back
And You take me away from that off-beaten track
You pick me up from that darkest place
If I could have the strength to only look up and see Your face
Then the power of Your light will shine right through
And I would know that it could only come from You
That saving grace, that blinding light, that gives me strength in the darkest night
I’ll fall for You, don’t let me give away my soul
I’ll fall for You
You are the only one who can make me whole
I’ll fall for You when I have no strength left to stand
If I fall for You then You’ll guide me with Your plan
Lord take away that foolish pride
That selfishness, that guilt inside
From the Heavens bring down the rain
And wash away all of my pain
So why do I look to the world for that light?
When I have known that Your power has brought me through the fight
I have been in Your presence so many times before
From the Heavens bring down the rain - Let it pour
I’ve fallen away from Your perfect plan for me
And now my eyes, they cannot see
So teach me again how to walk Your way
Do not abandon my soul, for this I pray
