Notes About The Poem

Bright Star

I am the dependable North Star,
      the diamond in the twilight sky, guiding you 
             as you journey to your destination;
             lighting the pathway when dawn is
              swallowed by the umbra of night.

              I'm Sirius, a beautiful bright star.
           In search of your dreams, you reach 
   to the heavens for me to make them come true. 
        In search of wonder, you look up to me 
    to write it in bold letters across the firmament.

     I am the Sun, the granddaddy of all the stars. 
   The mega-watt bulb of Planet Earth. You feel me
   on your skin and spirit every single day. I bestow 
   refreshing warmth when the world grows too cold 
     to bear. I'm the symbol of hope and happiness.

                    I'm Venus, a morning star
                      forever welcoming you 
                       into a promising dawn
                 You've got a wish? Wish away!
                       I'll happily grant them!
