Breathless

I can’t breathe. I can’t speak. The mask on my face Prevents my thoughts From going viral So they will not spiral Out of your control. You can’t see You can’t hear. Your mask and plugs Are to help you sleep To help you keep Yourself undisturbed To help you hide there, unperturbed. But the weight of your oppression Is on my neck And you are killing me. I can’t breathe. © Barry Freeman – 26th March 2020
