Breathing
Breathing
Sweet breath, scarce heard upon this gray day
Laborious, but there under watchful eye
Sweet hope and light dispel the gloom
A breath that breathes away the silence
Then uncertain pause from puckered lip,
Moistened with care
Still the air that I might hear again
Sweet breath that daubs my eyes with tears
That lay emotions bare
For all to see.
Frail life but for a moment, breath upon breath
Slow inhalation to breach the hush
Sweet melody that placates the morbid stillness
And founded on hope.
