Breathe
Breathe
Dry twig collapse on concrete
Begging to stand once more on its feet
To go through the closed door
A crisp breath in the air
Dreaming of warm sand , rocks and seashells
Catching fireflies
Standing still for the butterfly
Dancing with ocean waves
Distant whispers beyond the clouds
Stalk the land at night
A silky feather falls without a sound
Velvety rose petals overlap
Interwoven into a bloom
Red with the blood the heart pumps out
Ever so delicate
Raised up to the nose
A sacred sentiment
Of sweet honey dew
Nipped, its life is compromised
It tightens and stiffens and dries out
Withering on the ground
It’s beauty remains in between the tears
and the cracks
An aged, darkened decline
Held fresh by the water in the vase
Empty shadows echo into the background
Trees swing their twiggy limbs
Dancing to the night’s dark song
Moments of comfort and warmth
Sitting by the fireplace , baking under the sun
Our laughter
And silly humor
Clouds our tears and our memories of past times
And ridicule our fears
Where an unsettled emptiness resides
Laughter remedy pain but for a while
A good cry in solitude lets one live in truth
For all is not one’s guilt or fault
We breathe through our sighs
Hope, the thread that keeps us alive
Stitched at every seam
Amidst it all , we survive
