Boys don't cry

Who are you?

I am somebody.
I am nobody.
I am that poor child begging in the streets
Tattered clothes, shrunken clothes, bloated stomach
I am that man walking past with disgust etched on his face
Priceless shoes, sparkly clothes, shredded abs
I am that boy with the light slowly dim from his eyes
That man high from smoking all night
That kid struggling to sleep
Tossing here and there as hunger eats him deep
I am that man, lonely in the midst of friends
A birthday cake placed in front and a gun in his rear
I am that boy child who has been abandoned by friends
Raped by aunties and uncles
Assaulted by neighbours and strangers
Strangled by the society
And " shhhh ' boys don't cry'."
I am the boy who's struggling to walk
Falling and falling and falling and falling everyday
I am that boy who keeps falling every single day and keeps getting up
Face smeared with hot iron to seal the tears because
" Shhhhh " boys don't cry"."
I am that man who works from morning till night
Who comes home to his angry wife
" You don't care about the kids you animal"
I am that man with his face sealed with burning wax
Face sealed to hide the tears that flows within
Kids don't care anymore but he still has to work till death
Because the thin line between a man and a wood
Is that a man must provide until he is dead
I am somebody
I am nobody
I am everybody
